Job Description Summary
Aim to deliver the highest quality customer driven software whilst continually challenging, motivating, mentoring and supporting their engineering teams. They will work in cross-disciplinary teams delivering exciting customer driven solutions and high quality software and showcase excellent interpersonal and communication skill whilst efficiently working across the project life cycle to ensure software operates as intended. They will be an advocate for Engineering, providing a voice to engineers within the teams, identifying and supporting their teams in resolution of impediments and issues as well as continually developing themselves with industry best practice and tooling used across their engineering team. This is a leadership level role and will blend both deep domain and technical expertise within a feature team.

Where does this role sit?
An excellent opportunity has arisen within the Digital Products and Releases lab to shape and build the capabilities that Lloyds Banking needs to empower our customers with innovative digital products.
Some examples of what we do are native Mobile frameworks, Web frameworks, Mobile Application Security frameworks
What will I focus on in this role?
You’ll deliver the highest quality customer driven software whilst continually challenging, motivating, mentoring and supporting engineering teams. They will be an advocate for Engineering, providing a voice to engineers within the teams, identifying and supporting their teams in resolution of impediments and issues as well as continually developing themselves with industry best practice and tooling used across their engineering team. This is a leadership level role and will blend both deep domain and technical expertise within a feature team and great passion for coaching and developing people in a “player-coach” model.
Specific activities which you’ll be responsible for include things like;
  • Build efficient and reusable front-end systems and abstractions
  • Contribute to design of capabilities/features
  • Collaborate to the strategic roadmap and direction
  • Identify general improvements and implement front-end standard methodologies.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of shared code libraries and collaborate with other technology teams
  • Mentor and develop more junior engineers, providing clear and constructive feedback and building opportunities for learning and growth.
What do we need to see from applicants?
  • Extensive experience of TypeScript
  • Experience with modern JavaScript libraries and tooling, such as Reactjs, Redux, Webpack etc
  • Experience on Front-End test automation
  • Familiarity with server-side REST APIs and JSON
  • Passionate about technology and writing clean, maintainable & performant code.

  • A ‘great teammate’ who can build relationship and work productively with others across a variety of domains, disciplines and locations
  • Awareness of cross-browser compatibility issues and client-side performance considerations
  • Demonstrated design and UX sensibilities
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to communicate at all levels, specifically with a range of stakeholders.
  • You're passionate about technology and its application to real-world problems, such as software automation and delivery and you'll bring the right mind-set to the role.
